Comment by JEAN-FRANCOIS QUILLIEN on October 12, 2011 at 1:40am Hello, Mike !! Very happy contaminating a MAC member to ground armored bugs !!
Q1: generally speaking, and regarding only static models, the scales are from 1/144 up to 1/32. You can find some enormous exceptions like the Tiger I at 1/16 from FOV/Unimax. But Two models and your room is full !!
Q2: Hobby Master, Dragon Armor, Easy model Ground Armor (preassembled prepainted Trumpeter models), Forces of Valor (FOV/Unimax), Panzerstahl, IXO, aso ...
Q3: Metal (zamac?) / plastic parts. It is to be noticed that what they call "diecast" is more and more plastic for metal raw mat. increasing costs. But some brands try to maintain, as HM, Panzerstahl, FOV or IXO. For FOV, they are issuing new series in plastic at lower price.
Q4: It depends on the Brand. I found a mix of metal chassis/plastic turrets, plastic chassis/ metal turrets, the oldest models I got are entirely diecast.
Q5: Plastic wheels in most of the cases for finest details at 1/72.
Q6: Generally, turret rotates, gun elevates. Wheels are fixed as the models are for static exposition.
Q7: My recommendations are for the 1/72, with some exceptions for 1/48 or 1/35. I have no 1/32 FOV, only some 1/72.
-1/72: HM, Dragon, Panzerstahl, Easy Model, IXO, FOV
-1/43: IXO
-1/48: HM
-1/35: Dragon
I hope that this will help!!
Kind regards
Jerff
